Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'
The Cottagers Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Increase Tension on the Manager
Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals cannot be real Spurs supporters" by manager Frank.
Tottenham conceded two scores in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth Premier League home loss of the year.
But the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next goal when Vicario lost possession well beyond his area.
The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the touchline.
However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian spun and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by King.
King laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six metres.
Moments afterwards when the ball went to Vicario again, some Spurs supporters jeered him.
Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.
A particular of those jeering sessions truly irritated Frank.
"I heard some of our supporters apparently booed the situation and booed following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.
"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are with each other moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute lead prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second period showing.
Former top-flight goalkeeper Hart stated that the next score was "completely preventable".
"I do appreciate the fans' disappointment," Hart continued. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.
"The keeper was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive score."
'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Match
Italy national team the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old stated following the match that he had to accept the criticism.
"That score was a error of mine, I accept accountability for it," he commented.
"The intent was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."
He stated being booed "comes with the game".
"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "The team can't be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.
"It's on us to stay more composed, to concentrate on ourselves. We are lacking in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it's hard to accept."
'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Goal Line'
In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally too came on Saturday.
Wilson said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty net to aim for.
10 seconds passed between the keeper exiting of his box and Wilson shooting – which was five seconds after the kick.
"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the box for a long time," he remarked.
"I was surprised not one of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my eyes sparked a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a bit of extra time. Then it was solely about trying to make the right connection and get it towards goal. I had a positive sense, the moment it left my foot, that it was on the right line."
'When You're in a Poor Run, All Appears to Work Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
Although Vicario's mistake led headlines, this was an overall poor performance for Spurs to extend their home ground woes.
The match was their 10th home loss of 2025 in the league, a joint club record matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.
They still have home fixtures against the manager's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to play prior to the close of the season.
Just a single of those victories have occurred after the manager replaced his predecessor in the off-season.
"If you are down 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.
"During in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you as well – the opening was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.
"The outcome puts us in a place where we have suffered another game. Every game has a unique narrative, today we were defeated in the early stages.
"We just need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."
Tottenham have lost 4 straight at home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.
And they are recording 9.5 attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on file in a single campaign (since at least 2003-04).
Ex- Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.
"He's got take the stick," Murphy said. "He has accepted a prestigious role at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.
"The performances at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
