Starting Eleven

Dean Henderson Had little to do required in the first half until called into action from an opponent's bent shot. A sliding challenge against Qazim Laci showed his anticipation. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Examined against Albania’s biggest threat through their forward. Played in a central role initially but moved to the flank after Saka was introduced. 7/10

The defender Pushed into midfield on the ball, a familiar role before. At times lacked urgency in possession and the experiment abandoned at half-time. 6

The tall defender A constant threat from dead balls, typically, perhaps is another option for Stones in the backline as opposed to paired with him. A loose pass after the break almost led to the first goal for Albania. 6

Nico O’Reilly A further assured display by the 20-year-old following his first cap versus another side. A teammate failed to make the opportunity from a clever backheel over the Albania defence. The role is firmly his already. 7/10

The newcomer His first start in an England shirt. Slightly careless when playing out though his inswinging corners posed a danger. A handy tempo-setter available to the coach to utilize versus teams who drop deep. Booked after a reckless foul. 6/10

Declan Rice Deliveries from dead balls and free-kicks caused problems. Had freedom to move on the left only to be offside as the pass came in front of goal. Given a deserved rest on the hour mark. 6

The star midfielder Functioned in a forward spot on the right and contributed with the hard yards. Displayed glimpses of brilliance but dragged an effort wide. Replaced in the closing stages for a teammate, his rival, after receiving a caution. Seven

The winger Had the team's best chance of the first half, his shot well saved by the Albanian keeper. As Quansah hanging back, it fell to him to stretch the play down the right side yet his deliveries into the box were hit and miss. Substituted with 15 to go. 6

The captain The match-winner netting seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth strikes at international level. The first a trademark opportunist's goal while the second an excellent headed goal having drifted away from his marker. Now 32, his form is unwavering with the national team stand a real opportunity in the upcoming tournament when he's in the team. 8/10

The attacker Found it tough to influence play on the left flank. Was presented with a decent opportunity when set up by Bellingham yet the keeper denied him. Rashford made much more of an impact after coming on. 5/10
