Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
