Indianapolis Colts Take On Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Guten tag, fussball enthusiasts. Wie gehts? Everything good I trust on this excellent morning kickoff to the tenth week coming directly from Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be precise where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Colts (seven wins and two losses) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on German soil and the first in the capital city.
Pregame Highlights
As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an accidentally live microphone.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.
First Quarter Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then loses the ball … only for his center to recover the fumble with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Updates
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is sacked and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Oops.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
