Fans Urge Arrest of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who leaped a barricade and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A viral footage reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors walked down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was scheduled to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
History of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Well-being
Many fans accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote another response on Instagram.
A number of supporters also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two contrasting characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and earned 10 award recognitions, earning two for best costume and set decoration.
