Both Sergeants Instants Before the Attacker Got Stunned

A police sergeant that leaped to the help of a colleague who was ambushed by a knife attacker was granted the Royal Recognition for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a blade to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in that location in summer 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.

"Policeman attacked," the constable stated over his communication device.

Bodyworn and dashcam recording made public by the agency revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a weapon extended.

He collided with the policeman who lost balance and went down to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement even though being multiple times hit with the knife.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a safe opportunity, ending the struggle to an conclusion.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "I need something on my neck now, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell suffered two open wounds to his neck and additional cuts to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced cut injuries.

The department stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stem his fellow officer's bleeding prior to emergency responders came.

The new honor arrives subsequent to the three officers were granted internal Courage Honors in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local officer association in spring 2024.

They further earned a North West Bravery Award in July 2024.

"The efforts of the entire team ultimately rescued one another and ensured no bystanders suffered any wounds."

Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, as stated by officials.
