Bondi Discloses Inquiry into Trump Opponents and Epstein Ties
On Friday, Pam Bondi assigned Jay Clayton to oversee an investigation into political adversaries of Donald Trump and their connections with Jeffrey Epstein. This move came hours after Trump ordered her to begin the investigation.
During an announcement, the Attorney General commended Jay Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. The official stated, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”
This development appears to contradict a July memo from justice department officials which indicated that documents related to Epstein did not warrant additional investigations. According to the memo, authorities “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”
The President Calls for Focus on Political Opponents in Epstein Matter
The announcement comes as growing pressure from Trump on lawmakers to oppose the public disclosure of Epstein-related documents before an upcoming House vote next week. Many Republicans are expected to back the release.
Recently released communications from Jeffrey Epstein have brought attention to Trump’s previous connections with the convicted criminal, revealing information that his knowledge of Epstein’s behavior exceeded prior admissions.
That same day, the President declared he would direct the DOJ to investigate Epstein’s ties with Democrats, specifically naming prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also referred to the “Epstein hoax” as a “scam”.
