One teenage youth was found dead only a few days after being wrongly blamed of stealing the cremated remains of a dead infant during a burglary, a coroner's inquiry has learned.

Heartbreaking Finding

Kai Lloyd's mother and father discovered his remains in his bedroom at his Connah's Quay home on November 19th, 2021.

Untrue Accusations Start

The inquest heard how his parent got a message on November 8th, 2021 via social media, from a individual inquiring if her son was her child. The message added: "Inform him appreciation for burgling my flat."

In a statement read to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the woman had been in the news, asserting her infant's ashes had been stolen in a burglary - a allegation which was untrue.

Police Investigation

An investigation report from authorities later determined the alleged burglary complainant had "lied to police" and "evidence shows that said property was never stolen in the beginning".

News coverage about the supposed taken ashes attracted social media responses, and although the teenager was not named in the posts, his parent said individuals "understood it was him".

The "social media content were really upsetting", she stated.

Emotional Wellbeing Impact

She added that her son had been identified with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that condition, other peoples' views genuinely mattered to him.

"It would have affected him severely," she commented, "particularly when this was not true".

The teenager was detained at home, but nothing was discovered. He was transported to a police station and later released pending further inquiry.

Authorities said they would be in touch, the inquest heard, but had failed to reached out to the family by the time of his death.

Withdrawal and Worry

His parent said her son "became isolated" after the detention and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the authorities", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could seem like days".

When she spoke to him about the alleged incident, she said her child informed her he had gone into the residence because the woman who resided there had said he could use the toilet whenever he needed, but denied removing anything.

Online Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, Mrs Lloyd said her child was being harassed online after the accusations.

The proceedings heard that a young adult encouraged the teenager to end his life.

She had no concerns on the night before he died, describing how she had listened to him "laughing and joking".

She portrayed him as a "caring, loving" boy, and said her "relatives is completely devastated".

He had been "obviously hiding his worries", she said, noting that he could not bear to have anybody "have negative thoughts of him".

Educational Response

The hearing heard from educational staff at Connah's Quay secondary school.

On 8 November, she "overheard some students discussing that the student had been arrested and that was the first I heard".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she continued.

After the discussion, the educator said she rang the family's parents' telephone and left a voicemail saying she had spoken to Kai about the accusations.

The court learned his family said they never got that message.

Official Conclusion

Lead investigator informed the hearing he would await documents regarding what improvements had been made to dealing with suspects with the condition, before determining whether he should make a prevention of subsequent deaths report.

Providing a descriptive conclusion, he stated: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsupported allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old child.

"Likely falsehoods were subsequently exaggerated and amplified through the medium of social media.

"On 11 November, he was interviewed by the police and after his questioning he was released whilst inquiries continued."

The official determined: "There is no proof that the acts or omissions of any organization led to or added to his passing and although it was the result of a personal act it is not possible to determine his purpose."
